Computer Usage Statement for Patrons

Vertland library provides our members with free access to the internet, default Microsoft Office programs and several online databases.

Our computer facilities are accessible during library opening hours. We request that you call ahead and reserve a space if you require more than 2hrs per day on a computer. We have printers available, however in order to reduce waste we charge 10c per page for black and white printing. Colour printing costs 50c per page.

This is a shared space. Please be considerate of others in the library.  Be aware of your noise levels. Please use headphones if you are listening to music.

No food or unsealed drinking containers at the computers.

The Library is not responsible for loss, damage or injury occurring while using our computer services.

  • You are welcome to connect to our wifi with your own laptop or connect your own accessories (headphones, USB, etc.) to our computers but you are responsible for their protection.
  • Please keep your personal files off the computer. Save your data on an USB or external storage device. Unsaved data will be lost.

Users are responsible for protecting their own privacy.   It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to supervise their child’s Internet use.

Unacceptable use of our services includes,

  • Stealing, using, or disclosing someone else's personal information without authorization.
  • Using computers to break the law.
  • Sending or posting discriminatory, harassing, or threatening messages or images on the Internet.
  • Introducing malicious software onto the library network.
  • Making changes to the library's computer setup. This includes deliberate vandalism AND trying to modify or ‘fix’ the computers.
